Deka Camp

Opened on the 1st June 2019, Deka Camp is located in the north-west of Hwange National Park close to the border with Botswana. It is a small and intimate camp in an incredibly isolated and wild area of the park. The Camp has just 8 tents nestled on a small hill overlooking the Deka seeps, one of the only permanent water sources for miles around. The tents are crafted using canvas, local rock and sustainable thatching.

While it can be a wildlife rich area, the real perk is its isolation from other camps in the park and this allows guests to go on game for hours without coming across any other vehicles.

Deka Camp is operated by Machaba Safaris. It is a sister property to the more luxurious Deteema Springs Camp and Verney’s situated in the northern and southern section of the park respectively.  Machaba Safaris also has a range of properties in Botswana.

The activities on offer at Deka will include game drives, walking safaris and night drives in the camps concession and further afield into the national park.
